It’s popsicle time! How do I know this? My kids have been asking for them constantly. As soon as the weather warms up my youngest starts thinking of watermelon popsicles. They are so easy to make and there is no added sugar or food coloring.

I’m constantly shocked at the amount of sugar and added ingredients like food coloring found in what pretend to be all-natural fruit popsicles. Most popsicles’ listed ingredients include sugar, corn syrup, gum and stabilizers. Some of them do not even contain any real fruit and instead use artificial flavors! I don’t know about you but that does not seem like a healthy snack to me.

These popsicles here are 100% fruit. Nothing added! My kids love them and I don’t mind giving them seconds or thirds on a really hot day. You can make these popsicles out of any kind of melon or fruit. Melons work best because of their high water content and natural sweetness.

Eli, enjoying a homemade cantaloupe popsicle.

All you need is a blender, a watermelon and some popsicle molds. The popsicles are extra special when you add some blueberries, kiwi or strawberries. Oh, and a little fresh mint from the garden brightens the flavor!

The kids love to help make the popsicles.

They add the blueberries, cut up strawberries and kiwi to the popsicle molds while I am cutting up the watermelon and adding it to the blender.

Here is the super easy recipe!

Watermelon Popsicles:

1 melon (watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, etc….).

1 cup fresh or frozen berries.

2 kiwis.

1 tablespoon fresh mint leaves (optional).

Cut melon in half and cut or spoon out chunks of melon. Add the melon and mint leaves (optional) to your blender. Blend on high for about 20 seconds or until there are no more chunks and the mixture gets a little frothy.

Add fresh or frozen berries and a slice of kiwi to your popsicle molds. You only need about 4 to 6 berries and one slice of kiwi per popsicle.

Slowly pour the blended watermelon into the molds and put on the lids.

Freeze overnight or for at least 6 hours.

Enjoy!

Repeat every 3 days. They go fast!
